Historical Context: The Interregnum 1649-1660

The Interregnum was the period between the execution of Charles I on 30 January 1649 and the arrival of his son Charles II in London on 29 May 1660 which marked the start of the Restoration. Blood For Blood begins with the Battle of Worcester, 1651, and then takes us to Penruddock’s Uprising in 1655. The novel finally ends just after the Restoration of Charles II in 1660.
